WTF does it mean to “listen to your body”?
Listen to your body--WTF does that even mean?
I struggled with this concept for a long time. Am I hungry, or am I bored? Am I tired and need to rest, or am I just being a baby? I really want a pizza--is that my body telling me I need to relax?
What I learned from my own journey into nutrition and fitness is that letting your better judgement AND your intuition work TOGETHER.
For me, that meant stop eating when I was 80% full. Otherwise, I'd be tired and sluggish and stuffed.
That meant looking at soreness vs injury. Sore and Tired? Sure, but it's only Wednesday. Maybe go to the gym and go easier if I need to.
That meant that if I was craving something (usually chocolate), I probably needed some extra vitamins, so some fruit or fat might do the trick. Or a square of dark chocolate, TBH.
That also meant that if work was stressful, my training had been tough, and I felt run down, I needed rest and nutritious food. When I ate out of the ordinary, it often made me feel worse.
My challenge to you this week is to listen to your body, and tell me what it's saying!
