3 simple ways to reduce chemical load

We live in a chemical sh*t storm.

Our food is full of pesticides and hormones.  Our air and water sources are polluted with chemicals.  Our bath and body products are full of synthetics.  Our houses are covered in all kinds of chemicals.

The problem lies in the constant exposure-- it's affecting our health.  Many of these synthetic compounds are interfering with our hormone production, as well as disrupting the nervous system, increasing cancer risks, other health effects.

While we can't eliminate our exposure to these chemical toxins, we can take some simple steps to reduce it.  Here are 3 simple ways to reduce our toxic load:

1. Switch to greener cleaning products.  There are several on the market today, and apps like EWG Healthy Living App makes weeding out the "clean imposters" easier.  I personally love Branch Basics, which makes cleaning and laundry products super easy (and affordable).

2. Ditch the dryer sheets.  These seemingly harmless products have several substances that have been linked to cancer.  We dry our clothes with these, and our clothes become covered with these chemicals, and then we wear these clothes all day...

3. Toss your plastics.  Switch your old plastic food containers for some glass containers.  Toss out your plastic cups and water bottles (and shakers!), and invest in some cute glass Mason jars and stainless steel bottles/shakers.  Even if it's labeled BPA free, chemicals from plastics can leach out, especially with heat (like microwaving) and time.

These tips are simple, and will help decrease your chemical load greatly.  There are, of course, a million other things you can do, but I also recommend starting small and easy.
